Decatur, IL, April 25, 2015 –(PR.com)– Airfloat is now the exclusive provider of air skids (or “skates”) to Lifting Gear Hire (LGH), the largest provider of lifting and moving equipment for rent. Through its 19 U.S. locations, LGH supplies machinery movers and riggers with all manner of lifting, pulling, jacking, rigging and material-handling equipment.
“We are pleased to be LGH’s sole provider of air skids,” says Gary Mollohan, marketing manager for Align Production Systems, the maker of Airfloat air-film equipment. “As explained on its website, LGH carefully selects each piece of rental equipment for its durability, ease of use and safety. We feel their decision to carry Airfloat equipment is in keeping with this philosophy.”
Airfloat air skids allow precise, omnidirectional movement and positioning of heavy loads or machinery. High performance air bearings create a continuous flowing film of air between a flexible diaphragm and the floor surface, making it possible to move a 10,000 lbs. load with about 10 lbs. of force. And because they’re virtually friction free, air skids reduce wear and tear on floors.
Airfloat air skids are available in seven sizes, with air bearing diameters ranging from 12 in. to 48 in. Individual skid capacities range from 3,000 lbs. to 52,500 pounds. Total system capacities for a set of four air skids begin at 12,000 lbs. and top out at a hefty 210,000 lbs.
