College Point, NY, April 26, 2015 –(PR.com)– Nine-year-old Finn Cervino from College Point, Queens, NY, loves music, and has figured out a fun way to get his own music-loving peers caring more about the environment: by hosting a rap song battle.

Cervino, whose parents lead Coastal Preservation Network (coastalpreservation.org), invites Queens kids ages 8-14 to write lyrics about an environmental theme — such as not littering, caring for mother earth, global warming, etc. – and set it to the music of a popular rap or a regular song that plays on the radio.

Contestants should tape themselves singing the song – just an audio recording is fine; videos will not be judged. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the contest will be announced at Family Fun Day on June 27 in MacNeil Park in College Point.

“I want kids to have fun and learn about the environment,” Cervino said.

Family Fun Day runs from 10am-2pm and will offer kayaking in the East River; a park and coastal cleanup; live music; the NYPD climbing wall; art mural-making, story time, a clown for kids; and the NY Blood Center’s on-site busmobile, with two free Mets tickets for each donor.

Winning songs will be played for the public and prizes will be awarded. Cervino said all participants who are Present on June 27 will receive a lollipop.

Audio recordings can be emailed to kathryncervino@gmail.com or mailed to Finn Cervino at 9-22 119th St., College Point, NY 11356. Call 917.612.0235 with any questions.
