SAN FRANCISCO, NOVEMBER 2006 — Curve magazine, the nation’s best-selling lesbian magazine, rings in the new year with a whole new role: the magazine and its staff makes a guest appearance on the January 14, 2007 episode of Showtime’s popular lesbian drama, The L Word. Curve is celebrating their contribution to queer pop culture history with a huge L Word gala party January 13 at San Francisco’s swank W Hotel. VIPs scheduled to appear include L Word cast members: Pam Grier (Kit), Leisha Hailey (Alice), Kate Moenig (Shane) and producer/creator, Ilene Chaiken, plus celebrity emcee, Suzanne Westenhoefer, DJ Saratonin and other surprise lesbian celebrities. Guests will also enjoy performances by burlesque troupes including the San Francisco-based Diamond Daggers, the Vancouver-based Stilettos and Strap-Ons and the Seattle-based Chica Boom.
The January/February double issue of Curve takes The L Word lovefest to all new heights with an exclusive cover story on Rachel Shelley, the actress who plays Helena, LA’s heartbroken rich girl. The same issue — our fantastically hot sex issue — also features an additional bevy of stories including Ten Powerful Lesbians in the South, everything you ever needed to know about lesbian dating and an exclusive interview with Latina queer actress Iyari Limon (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame).
