Design and Innovation to Lead LGE’s Presence at this Year’s GITEX

Dec. 13, 2006 – Amman, Jordan-(December 2006)-: In line with its theme ‘Digital Harmony’, global digital leader LG Electronics (LGE) showcased its class-leading design and innovation technologies across multiple consumer electronics segment during this year’s GITEX and Shopper exhibitions. The exhibition was held during the period of November 18-24, 2006.

The LGE pavilion highlighted a range of its award-winning products aimed at enhancing the digital lifestyle. The new offerings included laptops, LCD and PDP televisions, DLP projectors, car audio and navigation systems, MP3 players, and more. Several of these products have recently won prestigious awards around the world.

“GITEX is of paramount significance to the LGE Brand,” said C. H. Lee, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE. “It is our seventh participation in this event and our main purpose is to showcase LGE’s technical strengths and position. Through these events, the company gets to highlight its position as the leader in the IT, home appliance and communications segments”

From his end, Mr. T. Y. Lee the General Manager of the LGE Amman Branch said “The exhibition provides us with a platform to both promote new products and maintain and enhance brand visibility. Over 100,000 visitors will be in the UAE to attend GITEX, and this is therefore the perfect time to position our brand”.

This year, LGE’s star product is the C1 Express Dual Tablet PC, which builds on the company’s heritage of leading-edge notebook technology and award-winning piano black designs of T1 and S1. At only 27mm* thin and 1.31kg, the C1 Express Dual represents the very best in prestige, power and portability.

Powered by Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology, the C1 defines the tablet PC in prestige, power and portability. The C1 boasts of an nVIDIA GeForce 7300 graphics card, Bluetooth, 512/1024MB DDR2(DDRII 533/400MHz, Dual Channel Support, Up to 2GB), 40/60/80GB(PATA), and weighs 1.31kg with a standard battery.

LGE also unveiled its navigation system at the exhibition. The LN715 features a 4-inch TFT LCD touch-screen, and allows for full map navigation in 2D, 3D, and day and night mode with a Sirf Star III chipset. The device comes equipped with a 2GB built-in memory, 1.1 USB port, and SD card slot. The LN715 also facilitates clear voice guidance in 11 languages with high power speaker output of 1.4 Watts.

Mr. Ghazi Farouq the Assistant Managing Director for Marketing at the Middle East Complex, an agent for LGE products in Jordan further added that the KG800 ‘Chocolate’ phone has won two European design awards including the iF Design Award and Reddot Design Award. “The award was granted for LGE’s unique styling and user interface, and it recorded sales of over 137,000 units in the Middle East and Africa in the first three months of its launch. In Jordan, LGE also works to present for members of the Jordanian community an array of its latest products and services thus the firm makes it its mission to make these products available to clients in Jordan soon”.

Also on the launch pad for the first time, was LGE’s award-winning wall-mountable DLP projector, the AN110. This is the first model in the world to use the WXGA (1280×768) DLP™ panel to improve image clarity. Digital Light Processing is the world’s only all-digital display chip and a key ingredient in the best digital projectors available today.

The sleek, modern looking AN110 can be hung on the wall like a simple picture frame and project one of the best quality HD images in the market.

The company is also updating its monitor segment with the launch of its ‘Emotional’ series. The series was conceived with the concept of creating a premium design series, setting an example for its next-generation monitors. The “Emotional” series goes one step further, presenting not only visual beauty, but also emotional sensation for the user.

Keeping abreast with the Blu-ray revolution, LG showcased its range of Blu-ray PC’s, DVD players, and Super-multi drives. Also on display was the world’s first commercially available 71-inch gold plated PDP TV and 102-inch PDP TV.

LGE’s innovative ‘Time-Machine’ TV was also displayed in its various sizes, in LCD and PDP categories. The advanced ‘Time Machine’ feature allows users to pause, record, and replay TV programs just minutes after the original broadcast. The one-touch commercial skip features blocks out unwanted commercials with a touch of a button. The units also boast of continuous automatic recording in one-hour intervals.
