Nov. 14, 2006 – After a face to face audition with director, Richard LaGravenese, Dre Bowie has been cast as one of the troubled youth (the freedom writers) in the upcoming film, “Freedom Writers,” where Dre will be acting alongside Oscar winner, Hillary Swank and R &B sensation Mario. The film, based on a true story, centers on a teacher (Swank) at a gang-infested Long Beach, California, school who is faced with the daunting task of teaching freshman English to a racially diverse class of teenagers. Her goal is to inspire her class of at-risk students (Bowie and others) to learn tolerance, apply themselves, and pursue education beyond high school. “Freedom Writers” is scheduled for release on January 12, 2007. “I’m very excited about the opportunity and I think the film has a lot to say. I’m proud to be a part of the project,” says Bowie about his experience.
In addition to his big screen debut, actor/model, Dre Bowie can also be seen in campaigns for Nike, Sav-On and various other products. While America is getting to know this talented teen, they can catch him on MTV’s new show, Juvies, a new 8-hour reality series which debuts on the network in January 2007, as Dexter. Dre is available for television, radio and print interviews.
