Dec. 12, 2006 – 12 December, 2006 – A pioneering series of DVDs has been launched for UK schools as part of the Government Every Child Matters initiative, to improve student safety and reduce the problems of anti-social behaviour and obesity in schools.
Leading police, educationalists and community groups have shared valuable knowledge and expertise to develop the educational DVDs, as part of the Through Younger Eyes (TYE) project led by Beighton Villages Development Trust and education software specialists Vantage Technologies.
With reports showing British teenagers among the most badly behaved in Europe, the ASBO Update pack will play a key role in tackling the problem of anti-social behaviour, encouraging students to behave in a positive and law-abiding way and working to make them aware of the impact of anti-social behaviour on individuals and the community.
Tony Green Executive Officer for Beighton Villages Development Trust said, “We’re dedicated to giving pupils the best possible start and to tackling growing problems such as obesity with innovative and interactive games highlighting the effects of unhealthy eating habits, the importance of healthy food choices and exercise, and the consequences linked to bad lifestyle choices.
“The DVDs and accompanying resource packs provide an invaluable framework for teachers and other ‘0-19 Agenda’ practicioners by helping them to provide guidance and support to pupils through their social development.”
Part-funded by the European Union, the DVDs and resource packs use role-play and real-life scenarios to help pupils understand the consequences of a series of threats from road safety to Internet risks.
Vantage Technologies’ involvement in the Through Younger Eyes project supports their pioneering national initiative to tackle and eliminate bullying in schools with their Sentinel Anti-Bullying software solution. Over 10% of Local Authorities have joined the pilot which allows teachers and pupils to confidentially report any instances of bullying, and enables staff and local authorities to deal with incidents in real-time and develop more effective, anti-bullying strategies.
The Through Your Eyes series is scheduled for release in December 2006. For further information please contact Vantage Technologies on 0114 2479 500 or email@example.com.
