Nov. 11, 2006 – The Australian digital music label, Hidden Shoal Recordings, today pre-released the latest album by Italian Cinephile Post Rockers Dilatazione, “Too Emotional for Maths”.
“Too Emotional for Maths”, is a rhythmically dense and intricately melodic piece of cinematic rock. The album constructs a flexing, woven city of sound from muscle and light. Guitars and drums tumble per-fectly in and out of each other leaving new shapes in their wake.
“There is a difference between a “well crafted” record and a “beautiful” record, and being able to com-bine both is quite uncommon…….. The descriptive and cinematic vein of Dilatazione oozes from every corner. They build introspective and razor-sharp guitar riffs à la Tortoise and Mercury Program onto a sturdy rhythmic background……”
-Upside Down, 2006.
“Too Emotional for Maths” was recorded and mixed in September 2005 at Alpha Dept Studio in Bolo-gna, Italy by Amaury Cambuzat (Ulan Bator/ Faust) and Francesco Donadello (Giardini di Miro’).
Suspended somewhere between the intricate rhythmic instrumental work of 90’s Chicago Post Rock bands and inspired by the iconoclastic
attitude of the french “Nouvelle Vague”,
Dilatazione manage to weave a wonderfully unique sound.
Over the last two years Dilatazione have gathered a large European fan base and a trail of glowing re-views for their live performances playing at such European and international festivals as Sete sois sete luas, No Silenz Fest, Cinema Blast, Rockcalvi.
In a cross hemisphere collaboration, Hidden Shoal Recordings have partnered with Italian label, Slow-motionpinguino to see “Too Emotional for Maths” released on cd in Europe and digitally across the world.
“Too Emotional for Maths” is now available as a digital pre-release in the HSR Store along with the al-bum’s first single, “Solo in una strada affollata”. The album will see it’s official digital release in Decem-ber where it will be available in Itunes, eMusic and Sony Connect stores globally.
