Eugene, OR, May 07, 2015 –(PR.com)– For one day each year, every Keller Williams Realty agent in the United States puts real estate on hold to give back to their community. It is a day of gardening, painting, shoveling, cleaning and elbow grease. It is a day called Red Day.
Though the “Red” in Red Day stands for Keller Williams’ signature color, it is also an acronym for Renew, Energize and Donate.
Mo Anderson, vice chairman of the board, Keller Williams Realty, has played a vital role in the real estate company’s commitment to maintaining a sense of culture and character since she became the President and Chief Executive Officer in 1995. Red Day occurs on the second Thursday in May each year, and it is how Anderson asks associates nationwide to celebrate her birthday, which is May 12th.
According to a press release issued in February 2015, Keller Williams Realty is the largest real estate franchise by agent count in the world with 700 offices and over 110,000 associates worldwide. There are over 80,000 associates in the United States alone.
Each Keller Williams Realty office across the country chooses a Red Day charity with which to focus its efforts; the only requirement is that it be a local organization in need of hands-on help.
For the second year in a row, Keller Williams Realty Eugene and Springfield will be working with Bridgeway House Special Education School for Red Day on May 14th 2015.
Bridgeway House is located on Upper Camp Creek Road in Springfield, Oregon. According to the website, its primary mission is to “offer treatments, developmental therapies, enrichment courses, and support to children and families of all income levels who are affected by autism.” Bridgeway School is a private school for children with autism, and it is sponsored by Bridgeway House, a non-profit agency.
Approximately 70 Keller Williams Realty agents and staff from the Eugene office will spend the entire day of May 14th working to meet Bridgeway House’s needs, which include applying new soft material to the students’ sensory room, installing a rock wall in the gymnasium, constructing a safe new trampoline area with a surrounding deck, reviving the garden, painting playground equipment, adding to the students’ sporting equipment supply and more. The office has also been collecting donations of books, soft toys, dodgeballs, legos, and musical instruments – all things that Bridgeway House’s Executive Director, Patricia Wigney, has expressed a need for.
Artisan Contracting of Eugene will be donating all miller playground paint for the Red Day project.
Brittanie Moninger, a teacher at Bridgeway House, said that last year, the students were absolutely thrilled by the donations and changes made. She said she knows that this year their reactions will be even greater.
Red Day will pause Keller Williams real estate activity for one day. Over 80,000 United States associates will take a break from listing appointments and ringing phones, and though the impact will be significant, the impact it will leave on each and every community – each and every worthy charity – is surely greater.
