Nov. 15, 2006 – Each year, over 40,000 people lose their lives in auto accidents. The Fire Service is the first responder and rescuer in most of these accidents. Unfortunately, there is little opportunity to practice the use of the rescue tools needed to remove a patient from a badly damaged vehicle. Over 25 Fire Departments from different states participated in the National Challenge at FireRescue Expo in Vegas. Teams from Florida to Washington competed for the coveted National Championship in Limited, Unlimited and Overall categories. The awards for the event are sponsored by MasterGuard Fire Safety Solutions. MasterGuard has been sponsoring the Fire Service through events like this for over 5 years. MasterGuard provides funding to TERCUSA which is the governing body overseeing the competitions at Regional, National and International levels. The Fire Department Teams compete and learn from each other. The mission is to save lives through education and creative learning environments.
