Peruvian Documentary Announced as an Official Selection.
Napa, CA, August 13, 2015 –(PR.com)– Minerva Productions will return to Napa this November to premiere their Peruvian Documentary, Los Bomberos (The Little Firemen,) at the Napa Valley Film Festival. The Tulsa based production company attended the coveted festival in 2012 with Any Day Now. Directed by Travis Fine (The Space Between) and starring Alan Cumming and Garrett Dillahunt, the film went on to receive the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.
Los Bomberos (The Little Firemen) follows young boys between the ages of 8 and 28 as they work as first responders along a treacherous stretch of road between Huànuco and Tingo Maria in the territory of the Shining Path, a notorious drug cartel that still haunts the region. Directed by award-winning and Key West local Quincy Perkins, Los Bomberos (The Little Firemen) will be in competition for both jury and audience awards for Best Documentary.
“We hope to bring awareness about the atrocities in Peru and the life savers that must endure through it every day,” says director, Quincy Perkins. “We are so grateful to the Napa Valley Film Festival for giving us this opportunity.”
The story of these “little firemen” caught Minerva’s attention immediately. While Minerva Productions was founded by Anne O’Shea to give more opportunities to women, their mission now includes children, the LGBTQ community and all other underserved and often ignored factions of modern society that need a voice both locally and globally. After collaborating with Quincy Perkins, Minerva Productions utilized Kickstarter and managed to acquire 125 backers who were also passionate about sharing this story with the world.
“Having spent several weeks filming in the dangerous forested areas in the Andes Mountains of Peru, this film has a very special place in our hearts,” says Brian Quattrini, Minerva Productions president. “We are excited to shed light on these very real issues that may otherwise go unnoticed in America.”
A few of Minerva’s film credits include The Hunting Ground, Indian Point, Life Partners and Golden Globe Winning and Oscar Nominated film, The Kids Are All Right.
Perkins’ past film credits include The Tracks and Swingers Anonymous, which was an official selection of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
