National Pawnbrokers Association Announces Certified Pawn Professional (CPP) Learning Program

The National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) announces the debut of its Certified Pawn Professional (CPP) learning program, designed for experienced pawnbrokers to further their professional education and earn the designation “CPP.” The CPP program builds on the NPA’s commitment to provide resources and tools to strengthen the pawn industry. The designation will elevate professional standards within the industry and will be the recognized mark of distinction among those in the pawn business.
The CPP learning program was created by the NPA in partnership with pawnbroker members who are experts in their field. Ben Levinson, NPA President, reports, “The CPP designation recognizes pawnbrokers who are committed to professional development and the attainment of the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their jobs at the highest level of quality.” The CPP designation is also an avenue for employers to recognize and promote pawn professionals.
Pawn businesses operate within a highly regulated and complex financial service sector. Levinson adds, “As the industry grows, pawnbrokers will need more professional education to stay abreast of emerging issues relating to compliance, operations, marketing and human resources.” The CPP courses are offered on-location at Pawn Expo. NPA plans to conduct courses around the nation several times each year, making it more accessible for pawnbrokers to participate.
Levinson stated further, “The CPP designees will build a group of industry professionals who have demonstrated that they are dedicated to higher standards of practice in the pawn industry. This is a first for the industry, and the NPA is proud to lead pawnbrokers into a new phase of growth.”
