Oddessa.com CEO and Head Oddsmaker, Joey Oddessa, Opens the Vault and Posts Velasquez vs Werdum II as a Pick’em Match

Las Vegas, NV, August 17, 2015 –(PR.com)– The UFC heavyweight title is on the line when champion Fabricio Werdum takes on challenger and former title holder Cain Velasquez in a rematch of their bout at UFC 188 in Mexico City back in June.

Werdum, who was as big as a +450 underdog in that first meeting, submitted Velasquez in front of his home faithful in Mexico City with a third-round guillotine choke in what was one of the biggest MMA upsets of the year.

Renowned MMA linesmaker Joey Oddessa of Oddessa.com has opened their rematch, which is yet to be officially scheduled, with much tighter MMA fight odds than their first encounter. This heavyweight battle is hitting the board as a pick’em, with both fighters priced at -115. However, according to Oddessa, those odds won’t last long.

“If you know something or think you do, go grab some because it’s going to move and people are going to bet it,” says Oddessa. “The vault is open. Get a hunch and bet a bunch. Expect some books to keep limits low or to not even offer it until venue and date are announced. But it’s on the boards.”

Werdum has undergone a career renaissance over the past three years, taking a six-fight winning streak into this bout with Velasquez. The 38-year-old Brazilian has finished four of those bouts, with submission wins against Velasquez and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and KO/TKO victories over Mark Hunt and Mike Russow.

Velasquez and his faithful offered up plenty of excuses following that stunner at UFC 188, pointing the finger at the altitude in Mexico City hurting his cardio as well as an extended layoff between bouts due to a torn meniscus and sprained MCL that forced the then-champ to pull out of his original matchup with Werdum at UFC 180 in November 2014.

This rematch is a bit of a surprise to some MMA fans, who didn’t expect Velasquez to get another shot at the title so quickly after losing in June. But, the 33-year-old did hold a four-fight winning run before losing to Werdum, including a rubber match with Junior dos Santos at UFC 166 back in October 2013. Oddessa believes Velasquez will be much more focused and prepared versus Werdum this time around.

“If the first rematch off his defeat to Junior dos Santos is any indication of what to expect in the rematch, Cain will be an entirely different animal,” says Oddessa, noting a unanimous decision win in which Velasquez dominated dos Santos 50-45, 50-43, 50-44 on the judges’ cards.
