Nov. 9, 2006 – Ozburn-Hessey Logistics named Michael “Mick” Fountain as President and CEO of newly acquired Barthco International. Fountain will assume responsibility for all Barthco customs brokerage operations, inbound and outbound consulting services and building a strong global freight management business for OH Logistics. He will be responsible for freight management acquisitions and OH Logistics’ continued acquisition and integration efforts.
Fountain, a 36-year veteran of the global logistics industry, started his career with Lep Air Services in the UK, moving to Jardine Air Cargo to run their Gatwick Airport freight and charter broker operations, later taking over their Midlands region. He moved to the US in 1982 and was part of a small team that started Jardine Air Cargo in the U.S. Following the purchase of Jardine Air Cargo by MSAS, Fountain assumed various management positions including President of US Operations, CEO Americas and CEO Americas/Pacific. When MSAS merged with Exel, Fountain was promoted to CEO Global Freight Management and Technology for the combined operations of MSAS and Exel. Soon after this he was appointed as an Executive to Exel PLC’s Board and served in this capacity until Deutsche Post acquired the company.
“Global freight management is an area in which OH Logistics is going to expand significantly,” commented Scott McWilliams, CEO of OH Logistics. “Mick has vast knowledge of global markets and has a tremendous amount of experience developing complex global supply chain solutions. Barthco has a strong reputation for excellent customer service and with Mick running this division, it is poised for growth.”
“Combining the contract logistics and freight management services of OH Logistics and Barthco will allow the company to offer end-to-end supply chain management solutions,” said Fountain. “I am very excited about the opportunity with OH Logistics as the company executes its international growth strategy.”
Fountain is the Chairman of Cargo 2000, a director of CNS, which is the North American Governance Group for the International Air Transport Association (IATA), serves as non-executive director on Fastship, Inc., has served as an executive director of the public board of Exel and was honored as one of the most influential leaders in the Air Cargo Industry.
