Nov. 14, 2006 – Helios Partners, an Atlanta-based sports marketing and consulting firm, and TeamMate LLC, a collegiate licensing sales and marketing agency, are pleased to announce a strategic partnership that brings global sports marketing expertise to the collegiate sponsorship playing field. As part of this agreement, effective immediately, TeamMate LLC will become a new division of Helios Partners.
Created in 2005 by principles of the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to provide sales and marketing services in the collegiate sports marketplace, TeamMate has developed comprehensive marketing initiatives, executed national licensing programs and devised both strategic and tactical activations around college sports for its clients. CLC is the exclusive licensing and trademark agency for more than 200 collegiate properties and has worked closely with TeamMate since its inception to create innovative marketing programs for its clients. In the last year, TeamMate has worked with top collegiate corporate partners such as The Coca-Cola Company and Lowe’s Home Improvement, as well as assist ESPN/ABC Sports to provide its advertisers integrated opportunities across various platforms in the collegiate marketplace.
“This alliance with TeamMate and working closely with the Collegiate Licensing Company provides us with a great opportunity to blend Helios’ sponsorship marketing skill set with CLC’s unsurpassed positioning in the collegiate licensed products marketplace. We will now have much broader resources with which to continue and grow the great work that TeamMate has done to date,” said Chris Welton, CEO of Helios.
“Helios brings a new perspective to the collegiate marketplace from the world of global sports marketing,” said Pat Battle, CLC President & CEO. “Helios delivers a unique combination of sports marketing experiences – from the perspective of properties and sponsors – and this advantage will translate well in the collegiate marketplace.”
With a background in both Olympic and Collegiate sponsorships and marketing, Chris Sanders will become the Senior Vice President of Helios Partners while continuing to oversee the new collegiate division.
Helios personnel, with dedicated offices in Atlanta, Washington DC, Beijing and affiliate offices in London and Tokyo, have served a variety of clients worldwide including the International Olympic Committee, Samsung, BHP Billiton, Football Federation of Australia, Nissin Foods, the Olympic Bid Committees of Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010, Australian Rugby Union, Bell Canada, Petro-Canada, Dow Chemical, Reebok, and the International Paralympic Committee to name but a few.
