Nov. 16, 2006 – WILLOW, ALASKA — The Wild Honeys are back with a DVD release, just in time for the holiday season.
The 100-minute Wild Honeys DVD is a live action film based on the recently-released 2007 calendar, featuring beautiful women, fishing and hunting in the wild. The calendar and DVD are available exclusively from the manufacturer on the Wild Honey Web site at http://www.wildhoneycalendar.com.
In addition to hundreds of additional photos from the calendar shoot, the DVD features hunting scenes of whitetail deer, ring neck pheasant, ptarmigan, grouse and turkey. There is also angling for arctic char, rainbow trout, king salmon, silver salmon and pink salmon.
The models/outdoorswomen teach viewers survival skills, including how to build a temporary shelter in the woods, how to build a fire in the snow and how to snare a snowshoe hare. They also demonstrate their cooking skills, showing how to make roast wild pheasant, minute deer steaks, and a simple bear roast.
According to Vicki Priebe, vice-president for Wild Honey Productions, the idea for the DVD evolved while shooting the calendar pictures on location in Alaska and Minnesota. “We wanted to bring the girls and their surroundings to life in 3-D and show their personalities, along with the beauty of the natural surroundings,” said Priebe.
She added that many of the Wild Honeys are avid outdoorswomen. “Our cover girl, for example, actually goes bear hunting and fishing with her family on her personal time, and Miss May has been fishing since she was five years old and now out-fishes most men,” said Priebe.
The DVD also has a blooper reel and a feature known as “hidden Easter egg,” which is a button hidden somewhere in the scene selections. When the viewer finds the egg and clicks on it, the DVD shows close-ups of the girls in their bikinis and lingerie. There is no nudity in the film.
The calendar ($12.91) and DVD ($14.91) may be purchased at the Wild Honey Web site at http://www.wildhoneycalendar.com. There is a savings for buyers who purchase the calendar and DVD together.
A percentage of the net profits from products sold via the Wild Honey Web site are pooled into the Honey Pot, which is divided up at the end of the year and distributed to various wildlife organizations such as Trout Unlimited, Ruffed Grouse Society, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever, and International Game Fish Association, among others.
