New Book Outlines Six Reasons Employees LOVE Individual Health Insurance

In a new book, “The End of Employer-Provided Health Insurance: Why It’s Good for You, Your Family, and Your Company”, co-authors Rick Lindquist and Paul Zane Pilzer outline six reasons employees love individual health insurance.
Lindquist says, “group health insurance is bad for you, your family, and your company because it is one-size-fits-all, you don’t get to pick your deductible, copays, or coinsurance.”
According to Lindquist, employer sponsored individual health insurance plans allow employees to be more involved in their health care decisions. And, employers can give employees money via defined contributions to cover the costs.
In the book, the authors outline the top six benefits of individual health insurance to employees:
1. It’s 20 to 60 percent less expensive—You and your employer pay $4,000 to $12,000 less for the same coverage.
2. It’s stable—You’re in a large group and your after-subsidy cost can only increase with your income.
3. It’s portable—You keep your health insurance if you or your loved one gets sick.
4. It’s permanent—Your coverage cannot be canceled as long as you pay your premium.
5. It’s good for business—Management spends more time focusing on customer and products.
6. It’s good for careers—People are free to change jobs based on what’s best for their career vs. what’s best for their healthcare.
