March 8, 2007 – Carlton Rhoden, a West Palm Beach school teacher, has a spark of an idea. “I hadn’t thought about it in months,” he confessed at the Fort Lauderdale Sales and Empowerment Workshop last Saturday. “Participating in this seminar has brought it all back. I’m sitting on millions,” he said with renewed excitement. “This is something that can be used in each and every household that has a child in it,” Rhoden refers to his creative idea of teaching times tables, the 60-second times tables.
The average person has many ideas that could generate millions. In 2005 the U.S. patents office reported 417,508 applications. However, the crucial ingredient standing between thought and prosperity is always action. “Many people want to succeed, to make their dreams come true but have been unable to take the actions necessary to achieve their goals,” says Alvin Day, Executive Director of Sales Empowerment Institute. “When I teach these workshops, I invariably talk to students who have brilliant ideas just waiting to take shape but lying dormant in the back of their minds.”
Stacey Anderson became involved in the cosmetics giant Mary Kay a couple of years ago. She joined the direct selling organization with big dreams but after a few attempts; put the project on the back burner – in fact, she put it so far on the back burner that she forgot she was even involved. “When I heard Mr. Day I just kept thinking, I wish I had something to sell and then I remembered…I do” Stacey has now rejoined the organization with a completely different attitude. “The first time I joined up my efforts were minimal but now, I have this burning desire that just wasn’t there before.”
The March 3 workshop focused on persuasion skills, teaching people how to get “Yes”
from prospects, but the lessons went much deeper. “I found out it is not about selling products,” said one attendee. “It’s about the general basics of life.”
The next Sales and Empowerment Workshop, scheduled for May 12, will delve even deeper into the personal traits needed to attain the success that we all desire. “The Personal Empowerment workshops excite me the most,” says Day. “Just teaching the A – Zs of how to get sales is not enough, our Personal Empowerment workshops focus on the foundation people need to create action.”
